Nathaniel Wedderburn

Name: Nathaniel Wedderburn
Position: Centre Midfielder
Date of Birth: 30/6/1991
Nationality: English
Place of Birth: Wolverhampton
Squad Number: 39
Nickname: Nat
Former Clubs: Notts County, Hereford United
Joined Stoke: 2008 (from academy)

Amongst the youngest members of the current Stoke squad, Wedderburn is another promising academy product who was first given a squad number mid-way through the 2007/08 season before signing professional terms in December 2008. On the same day that he signed his first deal with the Potters, he sealed a loan move to League Two outfit Notts County, where he impressed for three months, coping admirably with the physical side of the game for such a youthful player.

Of all the players recently produced by, or in, the Stoke academy, he is probably the highest thought of, having won the academy player of the year award in his first season at the club, and many around the club are hopeful that he will soon be able to establish himself as a professional footballer at the highest level. He has won international recognition having been called up to represent England at Under 19 level.

In November 2009, Wedderburn joined League Two side Hereford on a five week loan deal to gain further experience.
