Seyi Olofinjana

Name: Seyi Olofinjana
Position: Centre Midfielder
Date of Birth: 30/6/1980
Nationality: Nigerian
Place of Birth: Lagos
Squad Number: 4
Nickname: Ollie, Olo, George
Former Clubs: Kwara United, SK Brann, Wolves
Joined Stoke: 2008 (£3 million)

Olofinjana was signed by Stoke in July of 2008 from Staffordshire rivals Wolves. He began his Stoke career well as first choice in the centre of midfield, scoring against Everton and crucially against Arsenal but because of injury and the form of other players, lost his place mid-way through the season, falling well down the pecking order. Though he offers more going forward than many Stoke midfielders, he lacks the defensive assurances gained through others, and in a side playing with the tactics we do, it is therefore unsurprising that he has struggled to hold down a place.

He is a key figure in, and occasional captain of the Nigeria national side, and has amassed more than 40 caps for the Super Eagles.
