Huth is a physically dominant German international defender who joined Stoke from Middlesbrough in August 2009 for an initial fee of £5 million. The deal includes add-ons, which, if activated will take the value of the transfer to £6 million, a new record for Stoke.
Particularly strong in the air, Huth’s assured performances earned him the captaincy at Middlesbrough, but he expressed his eagerness to return to the Premier League to increase his standing in the German national squad in a World Cup year, calling his decision to join the Potters a “no brainer”.
He has become a regular starter for Stoke either at centre back or on the right side of defence and chipping in with his fiar share of goals and appears to have a bright future in the Potteries ahead of him with the fans responding well to his commitment and no-nonsense style.
